In-person Meetings Are Back Starting July 14th!!

In addition to our regularly scheduled Wednesday Zoom meetings, we look forward to seeing you in person at the Westin Hotel downtown for these Wednesdays during the first quarter of the new Rotary year:

July 14 & 28
August 4 & 18
September 1 & 15

Vaccination will be required to attend our in-person meetings and all in-person meetings will also be available on Zoom.

For those members on our Program Plan, please note that this will increase from $20 to $70* per month to subsidize our catering and hybrid AV costs (this will be reflected on your June 1 invoice). Members who are fully retired and not on the Program Plan can pay for their lunch at the door for the usual cost of $40.

Every effort is being made by your club leadership and staff to keep membership costs as affordable as possible.

Thank you so much for your membership – we can’t wait to see you!!!

*Final Program Plan costs will be approved at the May 27th club board meeting and featured in upcoming communications.

Failure is not an Option:
Student Needs Demand Higher Education Changes

Andrew Sund, Ph.D. is the President of Heritage University, a four-year private, non-profit college that sits amid the fields of hops on Yakama tribal land west of Toppenish, Washington.  The student body is 72% Latinx, 12% Native American, 72% female, and 85% first-generation college students.  91% of Heritage students qualify for federal and/or state financial aid.  It is the only university in the US with this demographic mix.  Since its founding in 1982, Heritage has graduated nearly 10,000 students.

Higher education can be a great equalizer in American society. A college degree increases earning capacity and improves the quality of life.  But despite many efforts, minority communities lag in degree attainment.  It is hard to get them in; It is even harder to get them to graduation. Heritage University has proven methods and developed practices to help students succeed.  This can be a model for higher education as an increasing number of first-generation and multicultural students pursue their degrees.

We have several fellow Rotarians who are currently battling cancer.  We want them to know we care.  For everyone who donates blood or platelets and lets Sten Crissey know, a handwritten card will be sent to let them know of your donation in their honor.

Dear___:
Understanding the critical importance of blood and platelets to many cancer therapies, I have made a blood/platelet donation at Bloodworks NW in your honor.
I am with you in thought and spirit.

Thank you to Jeff Borek, Cathy Gibson, and Larry Granat for your recent donations.
