Join us for a presentation that will illuminate the prevalence and growth of the fastest-growing epidemic facing the United States and the West...Alzheimer's. This disease is also the costliest by an order of magnitude and to date, we have no pharmaceutical treatment to slow or stop the disease. For the last fifteen years, Drs. Ayesha and Dean Sherzai have spoken about our ability as families and communities to affect the prevalence of this disease through a comprehensive approach. What they have been talking about for the last few years is now accepted by all. Their approach is being used in the largest community-based research program in the country and has repeatedly demonstrated the remarkable influence of lifestyle on preventing dementia and other cognitive diseases.
Husband-and-wife neurologists and scientists, Dean and Ayesha Sherzai, are dedicated to educating people on the simple steps to long-term brain health and vitality through their clinical work as Directors of the Alzheimer’s Prevention Program at Loma Linda University Health, and co-creators of the Healthy Minds Initiative, a nonprofit organization which aims to help empower communities to achieve their optimal brain health.
This week's speaker, Matt Hofmann, provided answers for some questions we didn't have time for during the meeting.Read his responses here, and learn more about his companyontheir website.

It is my pleasure to introduce to you Tiffany Lewis with the classification of Food and Beverage. She was proposed by Trish Bostrom, who we thank.
Tiffany is the creative genius behind Cookies With Tiffany. She is a native of Seattle, growing up in a family of five where everyone contributed to the family meals. She has been playing tennis since the age of three and played for Chapman University. She met Trish at the Seattle Tennis Club.
If the name Bobanick sounds familiar, there’s a reason. David Bobanick was raised in a Pennsylvania Appalachian coal town named Curwensville, then population 1,100. He says he lived there for 17 long years. He graduated from Penn State in Communications and went to Australia with the United States Information Agency. He assures me it was not a cover for the CIA. He moved to Seattle and worked at the Goodwill Arts Festival, which coincided with the 1990 Goodwill Games. His venue was the Moscow: Treasures and Traditions exhibit.
September is Disaster Preparedness Month, and we'll be celebrating with a disastrous Happy Hour. Dave Nichols of ShelterBox will talk about Rotary's disaster relief efforts, we'll test your disaster knowledge and preparedness with some fun trivia, and by popular demand, we'll have even more time for members to connect. We can't wait to see you there!
