Annual Diplomacy Program
Our April 17 meeting features our annual Diplomacy Day event in partnership with the Consular Association of Washington and the Rotary Clubs of District 5030. This year's main program will be a panel discussion titled "Rapidly Emerging Ties between the Pacific Northwest and South Asia" featuring panelists Consul General Prakash Gupta of the new Consulate General of India in Seattle, Dr. Radhika Govindrajan, Director of the South Asia Center of the University of Washington, and Sital Kalantry, JD, Director of the RoundGlass India Center of Seattle University.
Our April evening member event was held this Wednesday at the Rotary Boys and Girls Club (RBGC), an impactful organization that was established by our Rotary club in 1944 that we continue to support to this day. Club members Jared Grose and Kendrick Davis presented on the history of this relationship, current projects, and the pressing needs RBGC faces. By being able to tour the space and hear from RBGC staff, club members had a valuable opportunity to see in real life where SRSF funds support amazing work being done in our community.
We want to continue this goodwill and increased engagement with our longtime community partners and to that end, we hope you plan to join us this Saturday from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM for the annual RBGC day of service! To RSVP, please CLICK HERE. Hope to see you there!

Young Professionals Exchange Program Application Submission Opens May 5-May 15
YPE is a Rotary Club program designed for young professionals ages 25 – 35. The purpose is to build a new generation of Rotarian global leaders with global perspectives and experience.
For a period of 8 – 10 days, you will be part of a small group of other young professionals and will travel to Japan, where you will be hosted by a Rotary club. You will stay in a Japanese home of a Rotarian club member who has volunteered to host you. During your time in Japan, you will take part in various activities as a group (in 2019 and 2023, it was a group of 4). In 2024 it will, take place in Osaka from either September 13 or 20. Similarly, there is a group of young professionals from Japan who will visit the Seattle area, hosted by 5 Rotary Clubs in the Seattle area who are hosting the same activities. In 2024, that will happen August 10 - 18.

The Boys & Girls Club is looking for reading mentors for three of their local area clubs. They are looking for volunteers that can read with one child twice a week for an hour. They would LOVE Rotarians to sign up for this program as it is effective in bringing K-4th grade students to reading at grade level in 10 weeks! To volunteer, CLICK HERE.
SRSF Giving Update
Pike Place Market Foundation, the recipient of the SRSF $100,000 Community Impact Grant, will be set up in the Westin Hotel lobby in May to offer a short fellowship event. We will be packing “No Cook Food Bags” from 11:30 PM -12:30 PM just before we meet for lunch on May 1st. Please come join your fellow Rotarians for some lively discussion and packing for a very worthy cause.
Pinkham & Skeel and Presidents Circle Donors will be invited to a special event on Wednesday, June 19th at the Seattle Yacht Club from 5:00-7:00 pm. This is a recognition for our club members who have donated to the SRSF at either $1000 (P&S) and $2500 (PC) levels. There will be delicious appetizers, wine, beer and soft drinks. It’s going to be a lovely event.

No-Cook Bag Packing Service Event
Join us for this light-impact service opportunity packing no-cook food bags for the food insecure in downtown Seattle. This volunteer opportunity is in conjunction with our Community Impact Grant and its recipients, Pike Place Market Foundation.
Plan on joining us near our meeting space at the Westin before the lunch program to participate and help serve others!

Elwha River Exploration Day!
Walk in the footsteps of NatureBridge students as you explore Elwha River restoration and its history with NatureBridge. We’ll utilize hands-on field science practices to help you understand biodiversity and ecological health, and how the ecosystem is changing post-dam removal.
You will start the day at our Olympic campus with a warm beverage and light snacks, including the world's best banana bread. You’ll have time to meet your fellow day adventurers while packing your lunchtime sandwich as we introduce NatureBridge and the Elwha River. Then we head out into the field to research sites on the Elwha where we will learn about the Elwha River, the impact of the dam in our local community and around the world! Please bring your own water, wear comfortable walking shoes and layers for the weather. The program will conclude on the Elwha River.
Registration is $10 and space is limited!
We hope you’ll join us for this fun and inspirational day!
This special meeting is being called to provide club membership with an opportunity to hear about and discuss (in small table-talk sessions) the Future Vision Task Force report. This report is the result of several months of task force work to envision what the Rotary Club of Seattle of the future could look like. We would like to see full member participation! Music4Life is a non-profit and project of Rotary District 5030 that distributes musical instruments to public school students in need.
We welcome any gently used musical instruments you wish to donate. They can be delivered directly to these local music stores that are now open: American Music in Phinney Ridge and Kennelly Keys Music in Bellevue, Lynnwood, and Everett.
