Diplomacy Day with Caryl Stern, President & CEO of UNICEF USA

June 12 at Noon
The Sheraton, 1400 6th Ave.

Next week we’ll celebrate our Diplomats with a very special guest speaker.  In addition to recognizing our local Consuls General and other dignitaries, we will hear from Caryl Stern, President & CEO of UNICEF USA.

Caryl will share how UNICEF, alongside Rotary International and other partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, works to reach every child with the polio vaccine.  She will describe the journey from UNICEF’s Supply Division to some of the most remote communities on Earth, emphasizing the invaluable contribution from the frontline workers whose community engagement makes polio eradication possible.

She will also offer remarks on the millions of uprooted children around the world and what UNICEF is doing to ensure every child is protected, cared for, and has the support needed to thrive.

This week's program is sponsored by:

Meeting Our Army Neighbors from JBLM

By Bret Anderson

Jimmy Collins introduced our main speaker, Lieutenant General Gary Volesky, and pointed out that the United States Army celebrates its 244th birthday this year. He also invited members to join the Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) Freedom Fest on the 4th of July. RSVP to Jimmy if you'd like to attend.

Lt. Gen. Volesky opened by placing JBLM in perspective for the state of Washington.  It is the second largest employer in the state and provides jobs for 50,000 people.  In a year, JBLM contributes nearly eight billion dollars to the Washington State economy.
