Beyond Rideshare in Space: Introduction to Spaceflight Inc.’s Launch, Integration, and In-Space Transportation Services
For more than 10 years, Spaceflight Inc. has been a pioneer in providing launch services to small satellite developers, helping them access, integrate, and launch their payload to space across a large portfolio of domestic and international rockets. Recently, the company has doubled its footprint with a new headquarters in Bellevue to meet customer demand for its integration and production services and introduced a line of propulsive space vehicles for last mile delivery in space. President and CEO Curt Blake will share the highlights of the innovative company’s offerings and future plans.
Former President Sue Nixon called Seattle Rotary Club 4 to order at 12:30 pm Wednesday, October 5, 2022. The meeting was held via Zoom and at the Westin Hotel in downtown Seattle.
Former President Sue welcomed Rotarians and reported that President Beth was busy with her Sports Commission activities. President Sue said she recently attended a play at the Seattle Rep., “Where We Belong”, and gave it rave reviews.
Support Hurricane Ian Impact in Florida by Giving Blood
The blood supply is critical for Florida right now, and Bloodworks Northwest donors are helping to ensure patients who need blood can receive it. Bloodworks Northwest is sending emergency blood shipments to Florida, 130 units so far, as Hurricane Ian halted blood donation there.

International District Tour

Our member Assunta Ng, Publisher of the Northwest Asian Weekly, will take us on a tour of the International District showing where Chinatown, Japan town and Little Saigon are. This is her Chinatown tour Part II. It will focus on Bruce Lee’s first kung fu schools and where his childhood movies in Hong Kong were shown in the early 1960s. The story of the Chinese Historic Chinatown Gate, the controversy of Sound Transit Stations in Chinatown, the conflicts between the young activists and business owners on new developments and homeless issues, and other landmarks will be featured in this tour.
Meet at Seattle Best Tea at 506 S. King St. at 4:45 p.m., ending at Tai Tung (655 South King Street, Seattle, WA 98104) for dinner and beverages. Dinner including tax, $30.

Community Harvest Program

Join Harvest Against Hunger and our partners (and graduated Harvest VISTA site!) with the Community Harvest program at Upper Valley MEND on Saturday, October 22nd to help pick apples in a Cashmere, WA orchard. Our goal is to pick more than 18,000 pounds of apples in one day!

Music4Life is a non-profit and project of Rotary District 5030 that distributes musical instruments to public school students in need.
We welcome any gently used musical instruments you wish to donate. They can be delivered directly to these local music stores that are now open: American Music in Phinney Ridge and Kennelly Keys Music in Bellevue, Lynnwood, and Everett.
