"Whiskey Entrepreneurship, PNW Style"
Online Program

Westland Distillery started off with the ambition to produce a single malt whiskey representative of our home here in the Pacific Northwest. Along the way, they discovered unique PNW resources—resources that fueled the opportunity to buck traditions and push a very old industry forward. Westland was inspired to innovate, resulting in compelling, delicious whiskeys that are evocative of the place they are made and the people who make them.

Co-founder and Master Distiller Matt Hofmann will share Westland Distillery’s use of these PNW resources and entrepreneurial philosophy, not only for its primary products, but also its response to a demand for another kind of product in the midst of a pandemic.

Matt started distilling whiskey because of a passion for flavor…a passion that led him to study brewing and distilling science in Scotland where he developed the skillset needed to start his own business. In 2010 he launched the award-winning Westland Distillery in Seattle’s SoDo district, and just a few years later was recognized on Forbes 30 Under 30 list as a tastemaker “redefining food and drink in 2016.”
