Cybersecurity for the Defense of Democracy and Cyber-Diplomacy

Nation-state attacks are more common than you think, and patterns suggest elections and democracies are at risk. Tom Burt will share updates on what Microsoft has been doing to help protect candidates and the election ecosystem. Globally, we need better policies and solutions. To that end, Microsoft is leading change and working with governments, industry and civil society to come together to collaborate on solutions to these issues. Tom will share progress on these commitments and what we can do together to protect the hopes technology offers against the very real threats it also presents.

Tom Burt has been with Microsoft since 1995 and currently serves as Corporate Vice President of Customer Security and Trust. He leads a cross-disciplinary team of engineers, lawyers, policy advocates, project managers, business professionals, data analysts, and cybercrime investigators to drive continuous improvement of customer security in Microsoft products and online services.
