Your Navy in the Northwest
RDML Jeffrey Ruth
Hiring Veterans is Great for Business
LTG Stephen R. Lanza

Admiral Ruth's presentation will focus on how the Navy and the Northwest mutually support and benefit each other. This occurs within a larger national defense context that is dependent on a significant force in the Pacific and how the Navy's presence in the Puget Sound is part of that strategy. He is happy to discuss where he focuses his resources, the Navy's social, economic, and environmental contributions to the region, and briefly cover some of the Navy's future plans.

LTG Lanza will discuss how bringing together our collective leadership can advance veterans in their careers and communities. He will highlight the value transitioning Soldiers bring to the civilian workforce and inform the audience about innovative Armyprograms such as "Service Member for Life" and "Transition Assistance."

RDML Ruth grew up in San Diego, CA and graduated with distinction from the United States Naval Academy in 1986.  As a Naval Flight Officer, his operational experience includes flying 40 combat missions in the F-14A Tomcat during Operation Desert Storm and 43 combat missions in the EA-6B Prowler during Operation Allied Force over Kosovo. During his career he has commanded the Rooks of VAQ-137 based in Whidbey Island, the 6th Fleet's Flagship USS Mount Whitney, and the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz prior to his current command as Navy Region Northwest.  He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, and has earned numerous personal, unit and campaign awards.
