Past Projects

In recent years, SRSF provided funding for many significant activities.  For example:

  • Rotary Boys & Girls Club:  provided $375,000 for capital improvements to the facility located at 19th & Spruce.

  • Winners for Life:  honoring Seattle high school students for achieving academic excellence while overcoming unimaginable odds in their quest to finish school.

  • Rotary Support Center for Families (Wellspring Family Services):  The Rotary Club of Seattle and SRSF undertook a five year capital campaign raising over $4 million to build the Rotary Support Center for Families at Wellspring Family Services.  SRSF contributed $800,000 to this project.

  • Disaster Relief:  SRSF collaborated with other Rotary Clubs to provide both financial aid and supplies to victims of the tsunami in Asia, and the hurricane-ravaged Gulf area of the U.S.

During our Centennial year in 2009, our club raised over $4 million for Wellspring Family Services to build the Rotary Support Center for Families. Rotarians made five-year pledges toward this milestone project that enabled Wellspring Family Services to add depth and breadth to programs they currently offer and consider new options to meet emerging needs.

But more than the financial gift, the Rotary Centennial Project was the ultimate example of Service above Self –and was truly a partnership in all aspects. Wellspring Family Services continues to be surrounded by talented Rotarians who volunteer to help with public relations and advocacy, a myriad of in-kind support, event planning, technical support, and so much more.

In March 2009 we celebrated with 1000 of our closest friends! --  with Honorary Member Bill Gates Sr. introducing his son, also an Honorary Member of #4, keynote speaker Bill Gates Jr.

We are very appreciative of the five-year commitment made by the following three Rotarian sponsors to support donor-recognition and Centennial celebratory activities for the Rotary Club of Seattle: HomeStreet Bank (Kathy Williams, Bruce Williams), Sclater Partners Architects P.C. (Alan & Nancy Sclater), and Phil Smart, Inc. (Phil Smart Sr., Phil Smart Jr.)

Seattle Rotary #4 members are frequently provided opportunities to stay engaged with the families served by Wellspring Family Services.  For additional information, please contact Ruthann Howell, CEO/President, at or 206-826-3050.
