WELCOME TO Seattle 4 ROTARY WHERE WE CONNECT FOR GOOD

Of the thousands of Rotary clubs in the world today, Seattle was the fourth club established in 1909. It’s a legacy that our business and community leaders take seriously, gathering weekly to manifest the Rotarian ideals of fellowship and Service Above Self. As one of the world’s largest and most inclusive Rotary clubs, we can and do make big things happen in our local and global communities.

Over the decades, the Rotary Club of Seattle has provided a forum for prominent people from business, civic, and academia in the United States and around the world.  The best way to learn more about our club and the work we do is to experience this first hand. If you would like to attend a lunch meeting and learn more about Seattle 4, please contact Club Manager, Caroline Bobanick at caroline@seattlerotary.org.  We meet every Wednesday at noon and welcome you to join us!

Matthew Trunnell:
How Seattle's Tech Community is Working with Fred Hutch to Cure Cancer

Last October, Fred Hutch CEO Dr. Gary Gilliland shared his vision of curing most cancers by 2025.  He told us that achieving that vision depends on gathering and analyzing data on a scale never before imagined.

Next week, his Vice President and Chief Data Officer, Matthew Trunnell, will tell us exactly what that entails.  He’s responsible for creating the Hutch Data Commonwealth, a cloud-based scientific commons, where scientific and technology organizations use massive data and computing resources to accelerate the discovery of cancer cures.

Come hear Matthew and learn how our tech and scientific communities are using Big Data to establish Seattle as the epicenter of the cure for cancer.
